I use this site for several purposes. It serves as a very convenient way for me to share my photos with other people: family, friends, and strangers alike. It also gives me a place to critique my own work to try to learn what works and what doesn't as well as getting feedback from visitors.

That being said, I hope you enjoy my pictures and tolerate my occasional ramblings. If you would like larger scale versions of any of these pictures, just leave a comment or shoot me an email.

This one was taken late Wednesday afternoon up in the Hahn Horticulture gardens.  Down by the little waterfall was a rock overhang that had a bunch of large icicles hanging from it.  This one was much smaller and slightly off to the side.  The bulk along the right edge is one of the massive ice blocks next to it.  The color in this shot is completely natural, which blew my mind at first.  I took this as the sun was really close to the horizon, casting an orange glow over everything.  If you look closely enough, you can see little air bubbles trapped inside the ice.

  1. Great photo!! Great change of color from what one normally sees for icicles. Good luck.

  2. That Color! Was the sky iterlf at the horizon the same hue, and did you point the camera toward that? I suppose the late hour meant such a low temperature that there could be no more drips or droplets until morning. Superb moment, superbly “frozen.”
